Today, Donna High School is proud to highlight two outstanding Welding students: Daniela Martinez and Ezequiel Gonzalez! ππ
These students are first-generation college students who, by May, will have earned approximately 29 college credit hours while still in high school along with an STC Welding Certificate. πͺπ
Their journey hasnβt been easy. As first-generation students, theyβve faced unique challenges, including navigating college expectations and overcoming language barriers. But through determination, grit, and the support of the Donna High School CTE Welding Program, they are accomplishing something truly powerful, an education that opens doors and leads to real, high-demand careers.
We are incredibly proud of Daniela and Ezequiel for committing to their future, choosing college, and building skills that will allow them to graduate career-ready and college-ready. This is what CTE is all about, opportunity, empowerment, and success.
π Way to represent, Daniela and Ezequiel! Your hard work is paying off, and your future is bright

Out-of-Valley College Exploration For DHS Students!
Our Juniors continue expanding their horizons as DHS CCMR & GEAR UP teamed up for an unforgettable out-of-valley college experience!
Students had the opportunity to visit the UT Cockrell School of Engineering, where they gained hands-on exposure to petroleum and natural gas extraction and explored the real-world factors that impact fracking. They also toured the campus, explored multiple schools, and attended an admissions presentation emphasizing the importance of grades, test scores, and building a strong student profile for holistic review.
Next stop: Austin Community College β where students learned the value of understanding all postsecondary options and choosing pathways that best fit their academic goals and financial needs.
As we return to campus, our focus is clear:
βοΈ Becoming TSI complete
βοΈ Preparing for the ACT & SAT
βοΈ Strengthening college readiness
We encourage all students to join us on future college toursβshow youβre ready by attempting TSI, attending camps, and working to improve your scores!
